What Does Net Income - NI Mean?

Google AdWords is a pay-per-click advertising program. When you perform a search on Google, the results will be in the main body of the page, and over on the right-hand side will be a column of small adverts, each with a link to a web page.

These are AdWords ads, and if you click on a link in any of the small ads, the person who is running that particular ad will have to pay Google a certain amount. This is what is meant by pay-per-click.

2. You should start by finding the best keywords and phrases to use in your AdWords ad. These are the keywords you will bid on. 3. Enter a broad relevant term in the field, enter the characters in the field indicated, and click the "Get keyword ideas" button. This will return a list of keywords and phrases. Look for keywords that have a good search count and relatively low competition. In the "Choose columns to be displayed" drop down box, choose "Show Estimated Avg CPC." This will show you how much each keyword is likely to cost you for every click. Choose several good keywords with a cost per click that you can afford.

4. Log into your Google AdWords account. Click on the Campaigns tab, and click on the New Campaign button. Give your ad campaign a name and follow the instructions on the page, choosing the options that apply. Be careful setting your budget per day. Keep this fairly low until you get used to what happens. Keep your budget to what you can afford.

5. When you click Save and Continue at the bottom of the page, you will be taken to the Create Ad Group page. Name the ad group and create an ad. Enter your keywords in the box and click the Save Ad Group button.

6. On the next page your ad should be ready to go live. Enable it through the drop down box next to the green circle next to the keyword.

There are other things you can do to make your ad work better for you. Browse through the Google AdWords account interface. There are plenty of Help sections available, so make use of them.
Start off slowly and cautiously. You can lose a lot of money with Google AdWords if you are hasty and careless. Set up a second ad for the same keyword and test it against the first one. When you see that one of the ads is clearly performing better than the other, keep that one and start a new second ad. 6. When you are ready, and not before, go the Google AdSense sign up page and click the button that says, "Sign up now." Fill in the relevant information and submit it. Google will let you know in due course whether or not you have been accepted into the Google AdSense program.

It is common to use keyword phrases that have good search counts, but relatively low competition as the Blogspot sub-domain. As there are many thousands, if not millions, of Blogspot sub-domain blogs already set up, finding a good keyword phrase to use can be difficult at time, especially among the more competitive market niches.

As Blogspot sub-domain blogs are free and so easy to set up with little restriction, it should come as no surprise to learn that a study by WebMasterWorld found that no less than 77% of all Blogger blogs are in fact spam.

These blogs are throwaway sites set up to make a quick killing, or set up for quick and easy back links. They add no value to any visitor who might stumble across them, and they simply take up space, cluttering up the Internet.

There are software tools that enable anyone to create thousands of Blogger blogs at virtually the click of a button, which helps to explain such a high percentage of spam within the Blogspot sub-domain blogs. However, to put this into perspective, of the 15 free blog storage services examined by WebMasterWorld, Blogger was in third equal place of the least spam cluttered services. Some were considered to have 100% spam.

Blogger blogs with a Blogspot sub-domain make excellent microsites for providing quality back links and driving traffic to a main site. Those who use them in this way, providing quality content and sticking by the rules, can have really good results. Autoresponders Money Online income

An autoresponder is a software program that usually resides on a server, though it can be a desktop program as well. Its purpose is to respond to emails. While that is a simple action, most autoresponders are quite complex as they can also do a wide range of associated tasks.

Most Internet marketers use an autoresponder service. There are several available, but the best known and most popular autoresponder services are Aweber and Get Response . Being a member of these services will allow you to do just about anything that can be done with email.

The simple use of an autoresponders is when you are out of the office, perhaps on vacation for a week or so. You can set up a simple autoresponder that will most likely come with your hosting account to send an email back to every one received informing them that you are out of office and that you will reply as soon as you return.

A more sophisticated way to use autoresponders is to set up a series of messages to be sent out on a pre-determined time span. This is used frequently when someone signs up for a monthly newsletter at a site. The newsletters can be pre-loaded into the autoresponder and sent out automatically at the rate of one a week or one a month, or whatever other time period is preferred.

Research suggests that a potential customer requires, on average, exposure to an offer on seven separate occasions before they will be persuaded to purchase. The autoresponder is ideal for achieving this.

Many Internet marketers include on their product sales page a free gift that is related to the main product. In order to receive this gift, visitors have to submit their name and email address through an online form. This activates the autoresponder.

Submitting the form triggers the immediate sending of the free gift to the email supplied by the person who signed up. They are then placed in line to receive a further seven or more emails over the course of several weeks, spaced perhaps three or four days apart.

Each email reiterates the benefits of the main product using a slightly different angle each time. The theory is that by the time they receive the last email they will be persuaded to purchase the product. Tests show that this works very well too, and apart from the initial setting up, it all works automatically with no further effort on the part of the Internet marketer.

Because of the extent of spam, or unsolicited email, these days, those who use autoresponders have to be careful that they don't get branded as spammers. The most commonly employed way around this is the double optin.

When someone submits their name and email address through a form on a website to receive a newsletter or a free gift, an autoresponder will immediately send them an email that has an activation link embedded in it.
The message in the email will tell them that it is important to know that they really did ask for the information, and if this is so, could they please click the link to verify it. Ever Change Your AdSense Color Palettes?

People often ask me what strategies work best for AdSense. I always tell them that it varies from site to site and experimentation is key.

What works for someone else’s blog may not work as well for yours.

Funny that I’ve been suggesting experimentation for years, but lately, I haven’t really done much of it. I guess I’ve become too comfortable with my earnings.

Note to self: There’s always room for improvement!

Well, I was browsing my Twitter feed last Wednesday and came across this tweet from @AdSense…

It made me realize how long it’s been since I’ve experimented with color palettes on my units. The tweet links to an AdSense help pageon Google’s site. I must say, I’ve never read this page before.

Most of the information is common sense, but I was glad I came across this tweet because it reminded me that I should switch things up every now and then to deal with ad blindness.

So I did just that. I changed the palette up a bit on the right navigation of 2 Create a Website.

Of course, I’ll never really be able to confirm if any increase or decrease is a result of the change, but if I see an overall increase then this change certainly won’t hurt anything right?

My Passive Income Source

There was a thread about reselling domains and hosting on Website Babble.

In that thread I explained that I earn roughly 30% per sale as a reseller with my store Website Palace.

That doesn’t sound like a lot of money if you consider web hosting and domains are pretty cheap, right? So a $10 hosting package is only going to earn about $3.

Someone asked why resell when I could earn much healthier commissions as a hosting affiliate.

While it is true, hosting affiliate programs can be very generous (I’ve seen commissions as high as $150 per sale.) However, the benefits to reselling outweigh regular hosting affiliate programs by far, and here’s why…

1) Many hosting affiliate programs pay a flat rate commission. No matter how much a person orders, your commission remains the same.

And once the cookie expires, you won’t earn anything else if that person comes back to buy additional products.

When you resell, that customer becomes yours for life because they are purchasing from your branded reseller store.

As they continue to renew their domains/hosting and buy additional products from your store, you continually earn with every purchase for every product.

As your customer base grows (mine has been growing since 2002), your earnings will continually snowball — even though you are only earning a small percentage per sale.

2) Many reseller programs allow you to customize portions of your store (header, receipt, etc.) This allows me to offer incentives (freebies) that help drive more business to my store.

3) More control. Set your own prices so you have full control of your profit margin.

Reselling has been the lifeblood of my business since 2002, and it’s all because of the residual/passive income. It was the main reason I was comfortable quitting my 9 to 5 back in 2006.

A lot of you probably assume my business is based on AdSense or SiteSell (Site Build It!). Not even close. The residuals from reselling domains and hosting make up a substantial part of my earnings.

Why GoDaddy?

I chose Wild West Domains (GoDaddy) because they were one of the only reputable reseller programs back in 2002, but there are many others to choose from today. Hostgator also has a very popular reseller program, so you should check them out too.

I’ve been pretty happy with GoDaddy. They handle all my customer support and the perks for top resellers are nice too. In January, I was invited to an all-expense-paid trip to the FireSky Resort in Arizona for a reseller conference.

Quick Note: As I’ve said in other posts about reselling, I don’t want you running over to sign up as a reseller just because you’ve been wowed by this blog post. The main reason I have been able to do well is I have an audience that fits the hosting reseller business.
If your site is about fashion, it’s obviously not going to convert the way mine does. However, if your site targets Webmasters/Bloggers/Internet Marketers, this is something you may want to consider.

Downsides to Reselling

Just like any program, there are upsides and downsides…

1) As a reseller, you cannot charge anything lower than the parent company. So of course, you may lose business to more popular, well known companies because your prices are higher.

This has never been much of an issue for me because I offer incentives (free templates, a getting started guide, etc.) and I try to provide value to make up for the markup. It’s important that my customers get value for their money.

2) You won’t have the brand awareness of many of the larger companies so people may be skeptical of purchasing from you. This is where building up your own credibility and integrity through teaching and informing comes into play. When people trust and like you, they don’t mind supporting your business.

3) You have more control, but not total control. Even though reselling provides you more control than being an affiliate, you never have total control if you don’t completely own the company/business.

In Conclusion…

In spite of the downsides, I have no regrets about becoming a reseller. In my opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives.

So while those $100 hosting affiliate commissions may sound tempting, if you are looking for long-term/passive/residual income, you might want to consider reselling.

I’m all about portfolio diversification and building multiple streams of income.
